This is a true story. I was sitting at a McDonalds sometime recently near a realtor showing houses on her laptop to her client. The realtor said something like this to her client: “this is the house I love, but you can’t see it from these pictures.”
Wow, that’s sure true in a lot of cases with Real Estate online; the photographs are simply not good. Dark rooms, tilted lines, ugly lights, odd reflections in mirrors, strange color casts, even stranger ceiling lines. All in all, a very uncompelling view of what is most likely a very warm and lovely home. I don’t believe this serves either the owner of the home or the listing agent since a very likely outcome of showing the home that way on the MLS and other online venues is that a potential buyer will not even go look at the home. Not a good result. The whole point of putting images on the web is to attract potential buyers. It’s worth a little more effort and even expense.
As an example, the photograph attached to this article shows a nice set of lines and colors. Even without furniture the home shows well; you can see out the windows and the shadows are not too deep with the interior corners.
